Frequently asked questions
Is my profile uploaded anywhere?
No. Tarazu does all calculation on your device. The app works in airplane mode, and your profile is stored only in local, on-device storage.
Why does BMI show a category instead of just a number?
It shows both. BMI is weight(kg) divided by height(m) squared, categorized per WHO thresholds (underweight below 18.5, normal 18.5–24.9, overweight 25–29.9, obese 30+). It doesn't account for muscle mass, bone frame, age, or ethnicity — a muscular or older-adult body can show a BMI outside "normal" while still being healthy. That's why every BMI result carries this note, not just the number.
Why does the ideal-weight calculator show a range instead of one number?
Because no single formula is right for everyone. Tarazu shows four widely used reference formulas together — they ignore muscle mass, frame size, and individual health, so the range is meant as context, never a target to chase.
Why does the water-intake result say "estimate," not a fixed target?
It's a baseline of about 35ml per kilogram of body weight, adjusted for your activity level, shown as a range rather than a strict requirement. Climate, health conditions, and individual needs all shift the real number.
Is any of this medical advice?
No. Every result — BMI, BMR/TDEE, macro split, ideal-weight range, water intake — is a general-wellness estimate based on standard published formulas. It's not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a doctor, dietitian, or other qualified professional before making health or fitness decisions.
Does the app track streaks or push me toward a goal?
No. Tarazu deliberately has no streaks or goal-pressure mechanics — it's a calculator, not a challenge.
What does the home-screen widget / Siri Shortcut show?
The widget shows your daily water target. Shortcuts can answer "Calculate my BMI" or "What's my water target" — both read the same numbers you'd see in the app, computed on-device, never sent anywhere.
Where is my data?
Only on your device. Settings → Delete all data removes your profile, preferences, and the small amount mirrored for the widget/Shortcuts, at any time. Uninstalling the app removes everything the app itself stored.
